Hi ALL,
My Name is Marco (Aka LUPUS), 42yrs old, from ROME (ITALY).
I always had the big passion for Flyin, even if I’m not a real pilot.
I love to Fly in simulation (Prepar3d) and I’m part of the the Virtual group 102°v (http://www.vaafse.org/virtual102/) and VASFEE (http://www.vaafse.org/html/index.php) , flying with my virtual group with Starfighter F104 from SSW (http://www.simskunkworks.com/store/index.php).
Recently I completed my v2 of my 3D cockpit to fly with my group
I build , with the help of oine friend of my , a cockpit in wood, with 3 (later with 2 + 1 monitor) projectors that project images in a rounded MDF wall, and wrapped the simulator image with a wrapping software called IMMERSIVE DISPLAY PRO ( I have some documentation for it , if you may be interested) .. very easy to do
I read some about the Stewart platform , and I think that the next step (v3) may be to put all this stuff up on a Stewart platform to and a more real immersion.
The problem is :
I have no electronic competencies at all…. And a lot of answer. L
As I have no elettronic competenties I would avoid to use AC POWER , and prefer to use DC power 12v or so…
I understood that there are different way to build a 6DOF, but before starting a project that will never end my approach is the following :
I going to receive Thanos card in few days and i will start project on 2 phases (v1 , Little model - v2, Real model)
V1 - LITLLE MODEL
1) Build a model with little servos
2) i have to review & understand which how to connect card to achieve this first target
3) understand the best SW to interface model with P3d via FSUIPC
-> some one told me that The motion controller is designed to work with both racing and flight simulation software (Ian's 6DOF BFF, X-sim-3 , Simtools). The best motion software to use at the moment is Ian's 6DOF BFF motion software .
XSIM sound very complited to me, and simtool is still not clear to me
V2 - REAL MODEL
If ever i will achieve v1 target, i will then analize the v2 target , more complex
At that stage i hope to have understood all is needed from a SW/INTERFACE point of view
Meanwhile i would like to improve my competencies and start understanding the following :
1) Which is the material list i will need (For istance : Which motor ? which is the minimum design to suggested ?
I dont want to invent nothing new, i just want to replicate some good (and not too expensive solution) already done by someelse
I just have removed my previuos configuration from my cockpit (270° wall with projectors) , in order to have simplier structure to move, infact i also bought a OCULUS RIFT to replace the projectors configuration.
Once my 6dof platform will be ready , i will mount my cockpit on it.
My worries are the AC Power, and was wondering if can be reached a good result with DC motors.
Some one could give some suggestions ?
Is there anybody availble to share some documentation about their project to follow ?
Sorry for so long post (and my very bad english)
My best regards,
Marco
