Hi to everyone!
I'm a recent member of this forum and I really enjoy reading all your post about your projects!
Now its time to get started on my own simulation after reading all forums and boards (Specially following Thanos and Vicpopo) for the last 2 years.
I know that all of you have answers those questions before but I want to make sure before starting to draw my design that I get the right geometry for my simulator, this is what I have chosen for motor and drive that is already in my garage!!!
- Thanos Board AMC1280
- 6 Sumitomo 1/2 hp gearbox 1810 in-lbs, 102:1 ratio, 17 RPM
- 6 Allen-Bradley VDF PowerFlex 525 AC Drives
What would be the ideal specifications regarding motor placement, Angular Axes degree( Yaw, Pitch and Roll), Linear Axes (Heave, Surge and Sway) displacement?
Many thanks to all!
English or French is ok with me..

Hi Flyhigher, Nice to see you here. Your motors setup is looking good.Could you give the torque available and the gearbox tecnology (worm, helical ?) For dimensions look at billo's sim on same section 'user project '

For the torque is this conversion ok 1080 lbs in = 4800 x 0,0254 = 122 N m . It's not si big as I was expecting ! Ok wrong calcul 1800 lbs in = 8006 x 0,0254 = 203 Nm Means worm gear for the reducers ?

Yes around 203Nm of torque, I did regret not choosing higher HP, the motor is inverter duty (can handle more than 60Hz).
First stage of gear box is Cyclo technologies (See picture) with the second stage with right angle spiral bevel,

Try to make the plateform the most lightweight and rigid you can and it will be ok!
