Hi!
to knowledge, I will also present my new project, it's easier to identify with!
After a first simulator 2 DOF (at rather a second, I did my first test with the pneumatic!)
I built a simulator with an inspired Force Dynamics design. I modified the cylinders by a fixed mounting.
so I "reinvented" the system of movement of cylinders by a sliding and rotating mechanical assembly. my cylinders are fixed, the nacelle mounted on fixed rods.
it's easier on video: sorry for my english, I'm not talking ...

I forgot to mention that the simulator will rotate 360 ° non stop

I hope I will soon replace the engines with more powerful engines. My first test shows a lack of power.
inertia and high speed requires more power.
the first tests were done with 30 rpm motor 0.55 kw.
I will go to 1.1 kw motor 30 rpm, to a linear velocity of 480 mm / s
I have this time a reserve capacity!
I will soon weld the final elements, and the parts of the changes I made.

first test !
evolutions of settings, initially it was bad, and better in the end!
for this result I checked and changed the settings of the frequency inverter

Hi Richard,
Yes, it looks better towards the end.
What is the max motor speed you have set for the on-line mode of the controller on the LCD menu? It seems you need to reduce it a little bit. Or at lease until there is no oscilation.
Also I think your P term is a bit aggressive. Can you set it to 30 or less?
Thanks Thanos

Now I have a rather correct operation of my entire drive motor 0.55 kw. I'll start my 1.1kw ABB drive me to test and abituer settings. www05.abb.com/global/scot/scot201.nsf/veritydisplay/fed6d648808e9d0fc125785c0050747b/$file/fr_acs150_um_c_screen_res.pdfI'll see his behavior in comparison with the mini J7 Omron. my last settings: I have to experiment with a larger load. but it's not bad I think not? I have to make a compromise between the 3 position, it seems the best choice for the moment. PID 55.20.0 minimum speed in the drive 5% , in this video there are 7%, its better with 5%acc / dec 0.0 analog speed n43 0.0

Not bad! Its actually stable now.
I know that you like it fast, but take a look at Stevens build. He used PID 18,0,0 and his platform is super smooth and still fast...

if I descend too low for P, the speed of the simulator is very slow. speed down a lot and I have a huge time lag.
what interest down as low if the engine speed drops to half? I think it's not functioning normally at home ... I have a problem I think. I can still be a problem?

I do not know why, but I can not seem to make it work with 18.0.0. I'm doing you a video. I can only lower the vitesse.on / off line. I'll have to make profiles XSIM super soft ... I made a monster I think ... I do not know if it's good .... I'm worried. I made a video "extreme" .. load it ...

first: stress test : I added a UPN 30 kg on the cockpit. this is the limit of acceptable weight, the engine stalls, loose load at times, lack of power.
this is the limit of 0.55 kw. I hope 1.1 kw will be sufficient

You won't have issues with motor stalling or the load back-driving the motor... Thanks Thanos

Yes I know. My dealer did not recommend these engines, so I doubt now. I do not know what to do. they have a much lower yield about 60%. I'll have to take even more powerful than 1.1 kw .... I will eventually abandon the project. I do not know what to do. + Keeps the load + A little cheaper + Easy to adjust? - Bigger - Less performance - Less robust you think it's better for my simulator? www.amp-ge.ma/cariboost_files/puissance_20par_20engrenage.pdf

The dealers are basing their recommendations on their expierence on what applications these motors are used. They never even dreamed that someone could use them for motion simulator.
Go check the 3DOF platforms with belt to see what they use for gearbox... Yes its worm type...
I'll try to find example for you...
I'll check the link from the computer...

I'll watch the clutter on my frame. I do not know if it goes below the cockpit ... as they are at 60% yield that can be 1.1kw is not enough.
I will investigate it further. it's on, take all the load alone, it is an important point. PID will be easier to adjust too.
it's on, it's tempting.
