I'm glad to see that you got that job. Congratulation!!!!!! I hope it goes well for you. We'll make a fresh pot of Penne alla Vodka for you come summer! Do you think I should move forward with the Auto Tune feature? I'm running 2.0 on the AMC but have not setup the program to change the parameters of the AMC from Fabi's program. Is that ok to use?

Let me check it first and practice on the procedure As ill have to do it remotely almost in blind (except the feedback graph)
Thanks Thanos

Just added SimVibe to my platform Which components have you bought? Have you seen the setup from Roland/Ian? Seems there is an extra software allowing motor and audio "shakes": www.simprojects.nl/bff_shaker_system.htm

Hi stevantCan you share the *.bff profiles you are using for your racing games? It would be interesting for me as well for many others asking for the proper settings for Ian's software. (Dropbox link would be fine). Thanks Thanos PS. I'll be off this Monday, so if you can, we could skype/teamviewer for the autotune software...

Hi guys, this is my first post here on the forum.I'm glad to discover a whole new world with 6DOF simulators. Really, i'm impresssed by what you guys are able to achieve and you seem to have a great community too! Steve, nice rig! I've been watching your videos and my head is spinning at the moment about wether or not I should step in the project. Of course by looking at the videos I have a few questions: -I heard on many different builds a high frequency sound which is kind of annoying. Is it the drive/motors that are creating this sound and can we hear it al the time when on the sim? -I'm using iracing and would like to know what is the best software to use (BFF or Xsim)? -Also what is the best position of the seat when setting it up on the Platform? What feels the best? Should it be centered in the "triangle" as much as possible? -Also what is the reason for such long connecting rods? It wouln'd feel the same if they were shorter? It would limit mouvements? -Is an 8 feet ceiling high anough for such a rig? Thanks!

The sound comes from the motors but once on the simulator you don't hear it. I would use BFF software for Iracing, it's amazing. The seat should be towards the back of the platform in order to distribute the overall weight on all six motors. My basement ceiling is only 7'6" so what you see would would obviously not have a problem with 8'. Build it as you won't regret it.

An easy way to find the centre of balance is to place your seat assembly across a broomstick or something similar, get someone to sit in the seat (for weight) and then pull or push the seat assembly forward/aft until you find the balance point on the broomstick. The front and back of your seat assembly should have no down pressure at either the forward or aft end. Broomstick acts as a fulcrum.

From my observations since I've had the platform up and running for a while now is that the two front motors (1 and 2) are the most active since they are the front of the platform. They seem to carry most of the effort and weight. You notice it mainly when driving and you use heavy braking. The platform lunges forward while dipping, and then when you accelerate and it immediately has to push you up and then go back. The Auto-tune feature on my Hitachi inverters made the real difference in making that work smoothly and effectivly while almost eliminating error codes associated with acceleration and deceleration.

Hello Stevant is my understanding correct that SimVibe makes use from telemetry (motion) data? (not only using game audio). If so, how does it integrate with motion driver software (e.g. BFF)? E.g. LFS sends motion data via UDP, so either BFF or SimVibe need to "bridge" the motion data? Which HW are you using in addition to SimVibe software? - Amplifier? - Bass Transducer(s)? Thanks! Fabi

Hi Fabi,
You are correct it uses motion data not audio to simulate the motion. The Simvibe software works directly with iracing, xplane, assetto Corso, etc. You need to open the programs though thier browser to make Simvibe work. I have three sound cards in my computer to make it all work perfectly. My original card runs my 5.1 audio, my second card runs the chassis mode in Simvibe and my third card runs the extensions mode. Simvibe and BFF software don't actually work together but simutaneously. While the BFF software picks up the motion data from iracing, Simvibe is picking up the vibration data at the same time. They work together perfectly. I have a total of 5 transducers on my platform. One under my seat for extensions mode which is used for the engine vibrations and gear/ clutch changes. The transducers on the corners, chasis mode, handle the road bumps, suspension, tires, etc. independently. When the front tire run over a curb you feel it there only. You feel the independent suspension. You even feel contact from other cars in the corner you make contact. I think it works great. As the motion happens you feel it. Once you try it together you will never use motion by itself. It's a game changer. I have an amplifier for each sound card. I am using Buttkickers. The one under my seat is using a Buttkicker amplifier and the four on the platform are using two behringer 2 channel amps. One for the front transducers and one for the back. Simvibe does a good job in explaining how to set it up. I hope I am answering your question. If not, sorry for my babbling.
If you have any additional questions, let me know.
Steve

Steve Hey Steve really appreciate your detailed explanation!! It seems I've found the real expert :-) Wow, chassis AND extensions mode.... now I'm more than jealously :-) - May I ask for the Buttkicker types you are using? ButtKicker Mini LFE? - And which amplifiers? - In regards of the SW, I've read on their page about "Sim Commander 3" and "Sim Commander Lite" and "SimVibe" ... what is really needed for your setup? THANKS and best regards Fabi

I'm sure it has been asked already somewhere :-) But from where have you ordered the joints? Seems they have pretty good angle..
