Just a little update today, Parts for new PC came in and had my first run with project cars... the platform is running pretty jerky so plenty of tuning to do but things are heading in the right direction at last!! I ordered a pre-built frame for the wheel and peddles in the end, needed a bit of modding to make it work how i wanted but saved allot of time and is pretty light. www.overclockers.co.uk/dxracer-ps-1000l-n-racing-simulator-table-black-gc-051-dx.htmlAm in the process of running auto tune again on all motors with the platform fully mounted. I figure this will help dial the motors in with the correct weight and as my levers can currently rotate 360 with the platform mounted its not a problem.

Before i spend any real amount of time tuning things im in the process of designing a top bracing frame to help stabilize everything better. At the moment there is a small amount of movement in the motors when everything is running and also the geometry of the motor positions is very slightly off due to my DIY . The bracing mounts should solve both problems. If anyone wants this dwg file then please ask, the dimensions are all sound. More soon....

OK just a quick video of the platform after some tuning, still lots more to do.. New mini water cooled power pc to run everything, waiting for a nice new gtx 1080 Steel is on order to make top mounted bracing frame so that should help reinforce everything. Been doing lots of reading through WJ200 manual and trying lots of changes. slowed ramp slightly in vid to acl 1.5 and dcl 0.5, amc at 75% which is about 15.5 rpm on my motors. Still to try moving ramps nearer 0.5 and see how it handles. Have BFF working and nordsheilf in a ruf put a huge smile on my face even though things need tuning still. Still need to try and get motion on lfs replays to work so i can record some of that, hopefully tomorrow.

Hey Paul,
Did you use the autotune feature in WJ200? Also do you have your motors in star or delta?
Kind Regards, GA-Dawg

HI GA
yep i ran autotune (first a while back without platform) then about a week ago with the platform mounted.
lowest i got to was 0.11 acl and 0.02 dcl.
motors are wired in delta.
did you see a problem?
thanks

Hi Paul,
No I don't see a problem. It looks like the both of us are at the same spot in our builds and I was just trying to compare notes. I have been doing a lot of thinking about the acl/dcl and how that might end up impacting the sim. I think it obvious that a slow acl/dcl in a car/race sim would make the car feel "soft" and no tuning in the sim would be able to correct that. I am just not sure if my .13 acl is going to be to slow or not. I guess I want really know what it means until I get some seat time in.
One question. Are you using A13? I try to "quite" the motors with the min power on the AMC but I ended up needing A13=2
Cheers, GA Dawg

After my tests over the past week .13 should be more than OK i am using bigger gear boxes that have about 1/3 more torque than the 075's but im sure you will be fine. Yes im using A13 and B082 to help tame the jitters more. Ive also been experimenting with A016 which is analog noise suppression, it adds a smoothing filter to the incoming analog signals. factory set is 8 and it goes to 30 so between those 3 parameters we should be able to find a good balance. I had A013 at 3, changed it back to 1 but jitters started again i think two may be a good sweet spot but im only at 15 on A016 and also have B082 at 0.5 factory default again. With A13 at 3 and B082 at 1 i had no jitters but that was before i knew about a016 so im trying combinations of them all now to see how low i can get things.

Hi Paul, So there are a number of different braking options and I can't seam to find out how I know which one I should use. How where you able to determine the right settings? This is what I end up getting. www.driveswarehouse.com/p-1093-nsrb300-1.aspxThanks in advance. GA-Dawg

Yes I'm not 100% sure myself.
At the moment my brake settings are a combination of yours and Steve's. B090 is for dynamic brake usage in %. You are also use the DC brake option (cant remember code at minute) but are you sure this is not for an internal brake chopper? i just set both.
Ive got side tracked with building my upper bracing frame at the minute so havnt been looking into the tuning and settings more until I get that finished.
Originally I contacted driveswarehouse to get the brake resistor ratings I needed, its where I bought my wj200's also.
Maybe its worth contacting them to ask for clarification on brake settings?

Finished welding top bracing frame and had a chance to trial fit before painting. Everything fit great first time. This will really dial in the geometry tolerances and help firm everything up. Really happy with how things are progressing now, electrics and software are working great and this is the last part of the mechanical work which is nearly complete. The little mini spirit levels on the top of each lever arm have been really helpful whilst dialing things in.

Totally agree that the top support is a must. I was testing dirt3 and BFF there is just to much movement. I will be working on my top braces next.

Hi ga
Away on hols at the minute, will be getting back to things this weekend.
Was playing around with sim tools before I left for hols. Working on No limits coaster 2 profile which is allot of fun and also DCS 2.0 which is awesome in Vr. Wj200,s: Acl 0.8 del 0.5
Waiting before I get profiles tuned in before doing some videos. Was making some progress on flat screens but had to scrap and start again once I realised VR needs much faster response. Need to look at wj200 settings to increase response.
Still working on PID settings also.
I finished my top bracing frame which is painted and fitted now (photos soon). Also think I found a better way of making limit stops for each motor using neodymium magnets and Hall effect sensors so something else to order and play with.

Looks like we are in the same spot. I been testing with BFF. Ramp speed is a problem not sure if it's with the WJ or the Application (BFF). I got my Accl to .07 and Decl to .02. On the AMC I am at 100 for motor speed and P=20 I=0 and D=0. Look forward to see you project
Cheers,

OK ive hit a bit of a wall at the minute. Couldn't get motion smooth enough with my current settings so decided to start looking at how to improve things before wasting anymore time playing with motion profiles. PID and some WJ200 settings have been on my mind for a while so decided to start looking at these areas again, mainly: A013 (Input start voltage) and B082 (start frequency). These were increased originally to A013: 2 and B082:0.5 to stop the jittering/oscillation of the motors. Ive decreased A013: 0 (default) and B082:0.05 Stright away the motors are way way smoother then the previous settings. Now the jitter noise is obviously back so looked again at PID and after some trial and error it seems the jittering is due to incorrectly tuned PID not the low a013 and b082 settings which are critical to getting nice smooth motion, motion was notchy and lacking response with higher settings. The motors are much more sensitive now which I was hoping would help with the PID tuning but still not having much luck with fabi's tuning tool and trial and error is not really working either. So I'm kinda stuck on how to get the PID tuned properly at the moment, I understand how P, I and D work but its not really helping with finding the right values. Was thinking I might have to buy something like this: www.pidtuning.net/But if anyone has any better suggestions on how to get right values it would be much appreciated..
