G'day guys and Gals,
Please Help!
Heavily considering Clearpath for this application, but open to other options
I'm looking into servo motors for a fairly basic automated machine that i'm building. I need something that will continually index 90 degrees accurately in one direction without losing place over thousands of cycles. The index time needs to be around 0.75 seconds and the dwell time around 1.5-2 secconds. I'd like to use servo technology to have the ability to adjust these times with ease. I'm currently using a 3HP 415v three phase motor with a VFD speed controller from a 240vac power source with a wormdrive reduction gearbox and a mechanical indexer, this is grossly over powered for the application. This project is still in testing/development and i'd like to simplify the drive for it before moving into production then making major changes.
I'm quite new to servo motion control, could you give me some guidance on the components i would need to have something that will make 90 degree motion with perhaps 2 dials for index time and dwell time, on/off switch and an output signal at the end of the index motion to trigger the other components.
I realise that i will most likely need to attach a servo rated reduction gearbox to the servo motor perhaps the CPM-SDHP-3441S-ELS to gain some extra torque for the application as the servo will most likely prefer to work in multiple rpm not .25rpm movements.
Would one of clearpaths AC integral hp motors be more cost effective than the DC fractional HP option with a power supply given that each machine will only have 1 servo motor(it looks to me that the AC motors will plug straight into Australia's 240vac wall sockets).
Thanyou in advance for your time and expertise.
Cheers
