Hi, I'm building 4DOF and would need some advise on software setup.
First, Any recommendations what motion software to use. I have tested on work bench with X-Sim and SimTools with similar results so far. My focus is in racing simulators like LiveForSpeed and Dirt Rally. Is there difference in how realistic movements different software produce, or how it can be calibrated to feel real?
Second, In SimTools only option seems to be USO. In X-Sim there is also the interface plugin for Thanos6DOF. But because my setup is 4DOF I understand that I can't use that and must use USO on X-Sim also.
Third, Sensor directions on board setup. Using USO, If I select 4DOF I get no movement on the Yaw. If I select 1-2-3-4-5-6 I get logical movement, but so that I would need position feedback that matches the game. I already ordered sensor for it but I fear that it might be hard to calibrate on the change from 360 to 1deg when the signal jumps from one side to another.
So... Anyone done 4DOF with unlimited rotation? Some advise how to setup?

There should be an option for 4DOF (3dof + Yaw rotation unlimited...) Then use a acceleration force for yaw instead of absolute 360 degrees. See this video where i demonstrate a little bit the function of this mode. youtu.be/ke5-mSqJ8HQ Thanks Thanos

I'm using 2.3 firmware. Options for sensor direction are... 1-2-3-4-5-6 / Pos135, Neg246 / Neg135, Pos246 / 4DOF, P1-3-Y, N2 Should there also be 3DOF or do you mean the last option? Does this also mean that I should use the Thanos6DOF interface plugin? If so how are the actuators operated then? Meaning that in 3DOF there is Left, Right and Back(or Front). Which is which A1 Left, A2 Right, A3 Back? And what do they do? When I give command to interface plugin (Pitch, Roll, Yaw...) what should happen? On your video you are moving Pitch slider. That isn't Yaw . And if I can't use "Effect 29: Yaw" information from LiveForSpeed what should I use? Can't find option for Yaw acceleration.

Yes, the last option "4DOF, P1-3-Y, N2" meaning 3DOF + Yaw axis. (Axis 1,3,yaw are positive direction, Axis 2 is negative direction). You can assign the 3DOF orientation as you like, just remember that Motor 2 is opposite that motor 1 and 3. I used the Thanos6dof interface plugin for demonstration. Its not to be used with that normally as the motion it outputs is calculated only for 6DOF. I remember years back when I was playing with x-sim, I created a combined effect using Yaw mixed with Roll acceleration to smooth out the jump on 360-0 transition. I don't even know where that profile could be now. Thanks Thanos
