Yes Mike, 1 hp, 3 phase motors. I guess then that is good, not too much draw going on since I have a dedicated 20 amp breaker for each motor. I'm currently running a "P" of 19, "I" of 0 and a "D" of 0. My Accel, Decel times are at .5 sec. I should have the flight program up and running tonight I hope. I will see what kind of numbers come from that. Steve

I do not know your views here on the acceleration and décélération. it may be necessary to put a ramp because of errors eg on the drive, but there are alternative. it is possible to increase the range of effects, to increase the definition and reduce violence simulator. I do not have all the answers, but what is certain is that increasing the ramp is bad for sensations. I make a video to show this. it might be interesting to share his opinion on the settings?
in this vidéo, Motor 30 RPM all drive parameter are optimized for better response times. just 2 test to see the difference first :video 0.5 ramp second : 0.0 ramp

I'm having a problem getting my x-plane to sync with my BFF software. Iracing is working fine. Ian has looked at a few error message but nothing working yet. Thanos, maybe you can take a look at my system and see if anything jumps out at you? It has to do with the UDP.
I would appreciate it. :-)
Thanks,
Steve

I'll have some freed time tomorrow perhaps. I haven't used x-plane before, being a fan of FSX and older MS series, but maybe I could figure out the UDP issues.
I'll text you the time in the morning.

Regarding riton39's comments concerning acceleration ramps...
First of all... Thanks for posting your video in response to Steve's comments on acceleration/deceleration. The results you showed in your video were interesting and indeed do impact the response of the lever as shown in the video. One thing however needs to be considered is the movement of Mass for any particular motion platform design configuration. It makes sense that for a small, light weight motion platform, one can setup the drive (VFDs in our case) to have a very short acceleration ramp (ramp profile also needs to be considered - linear in our case). However, the larger the Mass that needs to be moved within a period of time, the more consideration needed to achieve the right balance for the drive systems that are used, including the acceleration/deceleration ramps required to achieve reliable performance for the specific application. In this regard, moving a 100 Kg Mass will have significantly different system requirements than that required to move a 1,000 Kg Mass, which will almost certainly involve having some kind of acceleration/deceleration ramp in the system equation.

Hi Stevant That is a Beautiful platform you have built i enjoyed watching it come together i hope if i ever get to make one it can be as good And @thanos you are just great with the help you give everyone i have followed your work for quite some time and although i don't understand 90% of the things you talk about i still find it brilliant keep it up Kind Regards Murph

I wonder whether it is not better I did different tests with significant example 5G values up to 10 G with a big load 0.1 is sometimes mandatory ... or 0.2.

Here is a quick video of me trying xplane on the finished platform. Need to work out some of the kinks in regard to the unwanted subtle cues, overall you feel the take off, descent, banking and the landing. Takes the flight simulator to a whole new dimension. If you look at the speaker closely you can see the random jitter I am referring too. I went into the info tab on my BFF software and I hit \B to stop the turbulence but I could not tell if it was actually off. I was still feeling the unwanted cues like it was a constant, slight turbulence. I'll work it out I hope.

Hi Steven,
The landing was so realistic! Amazing response! Bravo!!
To remedy the issues with turbulence try the following:
Reload the latest firmware again. Had made some fixes to it but kept the same name.
Then increase the min motor speed on the AMC1280USB LCD menu until the motor settles. You might have to use min motor speed number as high as 10 or 12. Note that this number is not % of the actual speed...
Also in Ian's bff software there an ini file that is related to the 6dof process for the AMC1280USB. Increase the delay to 10 (ms)...
On my side I'll check again tomorrow on my motor setup and on the oscilloscope if there is any noise created from within the controller with Ian's bff software or with the 6dof plugin for comparison.
Its hard to tell right now where that comes from. But I'll take care of it if its related to the firmware or hardware of the controller. I already have in mind a plugin adjustable filtering add-on for the analog outputs of the 6DOF ext board that I might try if everything else look fine.
Thanks, Thanos

Thanks Thanos.......I just made the update, no problem. I went into the Min. motor speed and see the increase from a high of 5 to now 14. I made the change to 10 as suggested. VFD's started getting quiet at 4-6 but I went to 10. No noise!!!! I was at 1%. I know the new numbers are not a percentage, just thought I would note what my setting was at prior to the change. I also changed my MD_Delay in my BFF.config file to 10ms. That was the default but I had changed that to 0, so now it is back where it was.
I'll run it later today after work and let you know how I make out.
Thank you again!!!

Hi Steve, Thanos,
I am still using the old version of the AMC1280 firmware, but I did change the Min Motor Speed from 0% to 5%, and it seems to reduce (but not eliminate) the level of activity when in the Kill switch position. I'm guessing that upgrading to the new firmware and changing this to 10% will solve or improve this issue.
On another note... I had a case this morning where on a flight with moderate turbulence (actuator Lever going crazy), that the Lever started to "wrap around" the output shaft of the gearbox. This seemed strange to me, and I thought it might be something with the AMC1280 controller. However, it turned out to be a loose nut holding the Position Sensor in place. I tightened it down and things were back to normal.
I started thinking how this would impact mechanically (potential mechanical interference) the full 6dof motion platform if one or more of these Position Sensors came lose, as there might be potential for some serious mechanical damage to the motion platform and its systems. The solution to this is ensure that these Position Sensors are mechanically secure, with not oly lock washers, but also LocTite.
Thanks again Steve for making these videos of your project, as they really help to visualize how these 6dof systems work. Also... Thanks Thanos for making such a great product in the AMC1280usb controller.
Mike
