Thanks Vicpopo
The prep and painting seems to be taking longer than the actual build!!
thankfully the painting is mostly done now.

OK so having each motor on its own movable mount gives some more flexibility in placement and modification later, but one problem is it was making it tricky to line everything up. So i had some wood in the garage and knocked up a quick jig to align the motors to correct distance and angles. Made it really quick and easy. The shafts in these motors have an m12 thread at the end so just bolted jig to each shaft and voila.

Nice enclosure! Consider totally enclosing the AMC1280USB in metal box, to avoid EMI radiation from the PWM of the VFD drives right next to it. This will eliminate the noise to the analog feedback a lot.
But you can do this after the proper wiring and configuration and calibration.
Thanks Thanos

OK thanks for the advice Thanos, wasnt sure if this would be necessary but sure ill put something together once the other work is done. Im already thinking of other ways to improve and re-enforce things also, even before ive finished

Could not resist. Ordered me one too, although a bit less deep (300mm). Hope I can make the build as clean as you do! :-) I think I will go for a slightly different setup inside, but the idea is the same.. I am glad you are ahead of me :-) So now I can peek at your ideas and steps.. My actual build will start next week after my welding course.

sounds good Michael, those cases are almost made for the job with a more shallow case you might not get away with using a consumer unit to house the fuses due to the depth, mine fits just right, a more shallow case and i would have been fighting for space with my layout. Was hoping to get some movement this weekend but i hit a bit of a hold up as wasnt happy with the signal cable i had for wiring up VFD's and AMC1280, guage was to small which meant the connections wernt very secure. So rather than botch things ive ordered some 5 core 0.75 CY cable and have to wait for that to arrive. Plenty of other little jobs to carry on with in the mean time though. PS have fun with the welding course, hope its MIG your learning, forget ARC/Stick, its a pain in the arse.

Big milestone tonight after all the hardwork... First signs of life!! Really proud of myself to get this far. Took a bit of head scratching to get things moving as i didnt find the process that clear in the manual, thought i had a problem with wiring but turns out i didn't set the F1 parameter before pressing run!. This video was a big help. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEowNDsn8CgThe whine that you can always here in the motion vids is alot louder than i expected at present, hopefully more tuning will help with that.

Great progress!
For the whine noise look up the parameter that increases the PWM from 4khz to 10 or 15khz.
Thanks Thanos

Ai.. That is indeed a terrible sound.. Hope it will reduce with the setting mentioned :-)
Can you keep note off all the settings you do on the WJ200?! Although mine are a step smaller I think that the settings are nearly the same:-) Thanks in advance!

sure will do and yes all the settings should be same/ very similar. Using the VFD's is a bit overwhelming at first but after wiring one and a few hours of fiddling with them their actually fairly straight forward to use, just a ton of parameters.
