Guys I just sat on the runway for ten minutes or so and the motors got really hot even doing that with the sim not moving =(.
I'm going to go check all the settings I know I have messed with and if I don't find anything suspect there I may default out my VFD's and start again just to be safe.
Any help appreciated!

Findings (updating this post as I go):
A044 was set to 00 instead of 03- Not sure how this happened, must have missed this setting last time I defaulted the VFD's and started over.
Everything else looks good based on GA-Dawg's thread.
Other settings different from GA-Dawg's thread: Based on Stevant I have my ACL and DCL at .50 which is high, his build is very much like mine and he is very satisfied with the performance so last time around I went to this setting from the .18 where I had it previously based on GA-Dawg and others advice to keep it as low as possible.

With A044 now set to 03 the motors seem much cooler (but further testing is needed) and the sim actually feels better than ever!

0.0 is 0% 10.0 is 100% 8.0 is 80% etc

Roger, that's what I'd hoped.

Two hours of flying and motors aren't even warm! Victory!

Good to hear.

Steve is running with normal screens and not VR. Are you not feeling the motion way off in VR with such slow ramps?
When I tried in VR with those ramps with racing the motion lag was horrible.
This is further compounded buy a higher start frequency(B082). Did you notice how much smoother/less lag the platform has when this is set to eg 0.1 instead of 0.5?

paulg100 Perhaps with racing I'll need to change it but right now I find flying very comfortable and enjoyable. I found for flight the biggest thing I've been fighting is trying to get things smoother and those settings changes were made for that reason. I couldn't tell any difference between b082 set to .1 vs .5 but I do intend to try it again now that I've got things working better.

tronicgr Hey Thanos, During flight in DCS World my motion sim frequently just stops. BFF is still showing movement, and the only way I've found to get it going again is to hit my emergency stop and then start it again. Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it? Also for all those using Rift with motion, I was having an apparently common problem with my viewpoint "teleporting" to different locations, turns out you just need to mount the Rift camera straight in front of your eyes, about on level with them and not too far away. Mine is at 20" right now from my face but I plan to move it a bit farther away for a larger tracking area.

Is it related to this issue? motionsim.freeforums.net/thread/231/phantom-hold-commands-sim-rumIf not can you take a video when it happens (Ian's BFF software views and amc1280usb lcd screen)

Hi Trip I also had a similar issue with my 6 DOF motion sim and thanks to the help of the guys hear and ian my issue was traced to the low "G" Crash detection parameter in the BFF config File (found in the last section of the config xxxx.BFF file) this might be worth a look , something so simple drove me nuts :-)

TL;DR: BFF is NOT going on hold, it's continuing to run when this happens. Platform is NOT going into hold position when this happens. Pressing EMRG STOP moves it to hold position and resetting EMRG STOP it starts running fine again without touching BFF wannabeaflyer2 Thanks for the reply. If I'm not mistaken the crash detection sets BFF to "hold" and that's not happening. When this occurs BFF is still in "Drive" and the bars for the actuators are still dancing. Hitting hold and then drive again does not restart the sim. The only thing I found gets it going again is hit the emergency stop (wired to AMC1280) which makes the sim move to park position and then reset the stop switch and it's running again. Also I have my crash detection set very high as I enjoy the wild ride when I crash! I'll work on getting that video, the webcam doesn't want to focus on the AMC screen so it's giving me a bit of a hard time.

tronicgr The only thing I know how to get the Thanos board to display when running is "Motors Online Receiving data" or "Thanos TronicGR AMC1280 USB v2.1c". I just did two runs (on video) and neither one of them changed at all when my sim stopped. I'm uploading the video right now but I can tell you easy enough: Motion stops at random times but does not go to hold/park position BFF Window still shows actuators moving BFF Hold and then Drive does not move the sim AMC1280 Emergency stop button returns sim to hold/park position AMC1280 Emergency stop button reset causes the sim to resume working properly until it happens again AMC1280 LCD display continues to read "Motors Online Receiving Data" throughout all of this One other thing to note, occasionally the sim will stop moving for a few seconds up to maybe 30 seconds and then start moving again all on it's own. Rarely happens but might be related? Here is the video: (The motion stops at about 17:15 and I hit the Emergency stop then release it at about 17:35) www.youtube.com/watch?v=z41QcnKoqX8

Hi Trip, Why is the screen show garbled low luminosity characters the first few minutes of the video? Then after you press the emergency stop and release it it shows the second page of parameters instead of the bar lines indications for the motors. Can I ask where exactly you interface the emergency stop switch? Are you connecting it on the KLM terminal input of the AMC1280USB board? Can you post a photo of that wiring? I just fear that something is shorting in your wiring to the controller by what I have seen in the video. Also it might be noise to the USB cable if you are using longer than 6ft. Can you load the latest firmware v2.2 on the amc1280usb from here? motionsim.freeforums.net/thread/234/firmware-2-betaIts has some stability fixes for issues similar to your. Thanks Thanos

Possible problem found: The shielding on the wiring for my emergency stop button wasn't grounded. I guess I didn't think interference mattered on an on/off circuit. I've now resolved that. The USB cable is only three feet or so. Thanks @thanos. I didn't think anything showed on the video, I'll have to look again! Edit: Wow I didn't even see the super dim characters, just thought it was video compression until I looked hard, but even at that it's odd the display didn't switch to showing receiving data etc. until the thing had already been moving for a minute. I also hadn't seen the display change when I hit the emergency stop somehow, it's supposed to show the slider bars at that point? Here is a picture of my wiring: Emergency stop is attached at the bottom left. Thanos one other thing while I have you on the line: Very small movements (like very light turbulence) it seems like I can feel it move in "steps" if you know what I mean. Some part of your description of the improvements to the new 2017 AMC board made it sound like maybe it has more subtle control, is that the case? If so, how difficult would it be for me to upgrade that? These movements I'm referring to are too small to see, but I definitely feel them, almost constant when flying.
