Hi Guys,
Well I have been away for a while. I have really enjoyed my rig but it’s now time to upgrade. The Stewart platform works will but I can’t say that it’s great at traction lost (yaw is really not traction lost). So I am back to the drawing board. I will show everyone what I come up with but I am still sketching it out.
Now to the reason for the post. I have all the AC stuff (motors,VFD) and was thinking of build a AC linear actuator. What would be the draw backs?
Thanks in advance
GA Dawg.

Hi GA, good to see your still around Firstly what is the speed of your AC motors, 1400-1500rpm? if so there way to slow, you need something in the 4000-5000rpm range id say. Other than that the only down side compared to DC actuators is the cost I guess, same parts but on steroids.

I was think of a 3600 rpm motor. They are easy to find and relative cheap. Hope to post some drawings soon.
Cheers GA Dawg
