I did my layout today BUT I am not sure I like how close the rods come to the motors. Might have to rethink that and flip them. It would not be a big change but it would impact the cover platform I was designing.

There really nice to have especially for something like this when you just need a few. One thing to note, mine is very old (in 3D printer terms) and the new ones have a much better fit and finish.

First post, so please don't yell. I just can't read everything in one week and haven't seen any information about these questions in the 5 or so builds I've read so far. Questions about the gearboxes: 1] If you are using 3/4 hp motors, why are you using gearboxes with an input rating of 1/3 hp? Is it acceptably safe in your opinion? 2] To get more height from the gearbox itself, why not mount it upside down from the orientation you are showing? Maybe for ease of motor installation? (Refer to this document: docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.automationdirect.com%2Fstatic%2Fmanuals%2Fwguserm%2Fch4.pdf you are installed in position A, where position C would provide extra height above the mounting base.) Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris and welcome, 1...Good catch....I actually linked to the wrong gearbox. This is the one I used WGA 75M-080-H12...I could of inverted the gear boxes and I actually considered it but the height required would require a more elaborate mount ( cant get much simpler than a hex coupler) Cheers -GA Dawg

Just wanted to make sure I didn't overlook something. I was looking at another install last night and saw where they ordered the motors and gear boxes first to help determine the shape and size of the platform. I may do something similar, but I also have SketchUp model of your platform and could modify it to the drawings of the gearboxes. But having worked for two Japanese companies, there is something to the "go and see" method that can't be forgotten, so I'll probably wait until the gearboxes show up before finalizing the design of the platform. Thanks for responding. I look forward to seeing your results. Cheers, Chris P.S. Roll Tide

Making good progress GA!
One thing I noticed, you are using the PC's PSU for the 24v supply.
Is this supply regulated? if not maybe it will cause issues.

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear. I have a stand alone 24v power supply (image below). The power feed for the 24v is come from the PC PSU that is all.
