Hello, I'm riding simulator 4dof, have problem in central axis, I want rotate 360º free, how will I do this without using encoder? put the encoder stopped, but it did work. I have a solution?
Thank you
Rafael

Thank you Rafael Hi Rafael, A video of the motion you get now, would help to see how we can help in this issue. I suspect you are not using the yaw value as self centered force but as absolute position in the motion software... Give us some pics of the settings there as well. Thanks Thanos

Hi Rafael,
You are on the right track.
All you need is to turn the potentiometer to the position when the motor is not rotating any more to either direction.
Instead if using the magnetic sensor that has small rotation range, its better to use a 10-turn potentiometer that will allow you to find that position of the potentiometer that will stop the motor from rotating either way.
Then any input from the software will just regulate the speed and direction if the motor.
Stop the motor from rotating like you did in the end of the video and make another video of the motion you get from the motion from the software with data from the game.

which configuration is that Thanos? (Yaw value the self centered force but the absolute position in the motion software)

hi, when I click on the convert start, the motor starts spinning when I click stop, the motor stops.
Thanks for help.

Perhaps you should offset the value on the yaw (math section) for that effect so it is initially stopped, in center position. You should get motion from it only when turning...

Hi, I could not make it work. I tried various settings and nothing. here a bad video, recorded with mobile www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tLfqhUlTBA-It's Possible to control the yaw motor without the potentiometer rotate together? thank you. Rafael

Oh. I see... The value from xsim is a little offset... Resulting in some proportion of speed to one direction.
While the xsim is running can you stop the motor with the pot? Then drive around to see if the motor speeds up to each direction as you drive.
I'm afraid I'll have to get a fix in firmware for this offset...

I can stop the engine with the pot with the game in progress. but it starts to rotate after only one way, and when I stop the game, the motor does not stop.

Hi thanos,
Do you think you'll need for adjustments to the firmware?
Thanks

Hi thanos, Do you think you'll need for adjustments to the firmware? Thanks Perhaps you can add this offset in xsim USO, or in the Math section. But still I'll have to change the code for individual pid values for non combined Sims like yours, so you can use the 4th axis with plain speed. I'll try to find some time to code this, if I ever get left alone with my endless email correspondence... Thanks Thanos

Thanks Thanos Thanos, we appreciate everything you did to make 6dof easily achievable especially by someone with no engineering background like me. I think you should ask your email correspondence to join the forum so that some of the experienced one here can answer their questions instead of you alone. If it has anything to do with motion simulator of course.
